I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. According to my mother the first sign of my creativity was when I threaded Cheerios on my shoelaces instead of eating them. Years later, in early childhood, I was enrolled in art classes at the Phoenix Art Museum.

After graduating from Art Center College of Design with a B.F.A. in Illustration, I was recruited by Hallmark Cards, Inc. For two years I worked as a greeting card artist at their main headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri.

I left Hallmark to pursue freelance illustration first in San Francisco then in Chicago. My focus has been on children's publishing as well as greeting cards. In 2006 I proudly launched my own greeting card line for kids, Initial Greetings.

Over the years, while doing freelance illustration, I started a career as an art buyer for educational publishing, giving me a chance to combine both my love for publishing and art for children.

In my spare time I continue to photo document the unique Chicago tradition, Snow Parking Dibs! Check out my blog to see the latest and strangest household items reserving parking spots on local neighborhood streets.

In the Spring of 2014 my mother and I partnered with Artplay to finally bring to printed life a character I developed and story she wrote years ago. The children’s book, Artesia Starts School, can be purchased through Artplay’s website. Excited our book is finally in the little hands it was meant for!
